Tim Willits
Assistant to Marcus Caseon — last audio log to Tess before the wagon crash.
It didn't work, sis!— Tim Willits, last audio log (The Solar Railway)
Tim is a minor but tragic figure — the ill-fated assistant to Marcus Caseon. On The Solar Railway he appears through PDA and audio log rather than as a living NPC the player can meet.
During Operation Oversight's 23rd mission at the Petipa Docks he accompanies Dr Caseon as an unofficial passenger. Smart and resourceful — traits the Mars Relocation program values — he is still rejected by UAC Security's AI because he is not on the manifest. Caseon's desperate try at inventing a family tie fails; Tim is stranded at Petipa while the others, including his boss, begin transit.
Alone and advised to head for the Northern Rail to find temporary work or reapply, he travels north with the marine squad that secured them. His final message to his sister, Theresa Chasar, cuts off when the transport wagon crashes. The log captures his terror: bleeding sarcophagus-like containers, injured people, and a “flying thing” that begins to change people. When the wagon skids or overturns, toppling sarcophagus sections crush him against a column — as shown in the recovered scene on The Solar Railway.

Sorry Tess, I couldn't make it! (Audio log)It didn't work, sis! Doc tried everything with security, but they didn't let me through as his assistant. I must stay for now. They advised me to reapply. When Marcus arrives, he'll be able to prioritise and speed up my transfer. It may be a bit longer. I tried reaching Sarah, but I couldn't. Her last message said she's working in Jobim, with an idiot boss! She'd love to see me. The soldiers who escorted us promised they'll help me get north. I will write again once I reach the Northern Rail. I love you! ...s Tim Willits. The wagon has crashed. ...sarcophagus-like things leaking blood, and a person, injured Put him here, and the other one, too! There's a flying thing here that transforms people. Oh God... It's happening! I need to...
Background
Outside the Mercury timeline, Tim Willits is a well-known figure in Doom's real-world history: longtime id Software level designer, later studio director, and a previous co-owner before the ZeniMax sale. He joined id in 1995 after the Empire and Raven Doom PWADs, contributed Ultimate Doom and Master Levels maps (often with his sister Theresa Chasar), and worked across Quake, Quake II, Quake III, and Doom 3. Doomworld's 5 Years of Doom ranked him among the top ten level designers of all time. After leaving id (2019) he became Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive.
The Mercury Rising portrayal is fan fiction that nods to that public career — it is not a biography.
