I'm with you guys! Don't like the Indian spread either.— Matthew Morton (Thakur Cross Service Station)

Matthew Morton is a Marine in the escort security circle at Thakur Cross Service Station. His PDA reads like spoken meet notes: EM-blind rail tunnels, iron-boxed PDAs, a closed circle — and a gut-check method to stop the Indian push (the same circle later tied to the station infection).

Secret meeting at the transformersOnce more for Mr Yeez: we meet here 'cause it's one of Thakur's safest spots, okay? Not health-wise - high voltage churns my gut. Implants or pacemakers? These transformers & the whole damn rail net fry anything electric. Put your PDAs in iron boxes, please. Security-wise these spots are gold. Noise kills eavesdropping, but if you've got implants, you're out of the circle. Let's start! First of all: I'm with you guys! Don't like the Indian spread either. 3rd station in the region - we shouldn't sit on our hands! I've got a method to end this. Needs a stomach, but effective. Yezback might even enjoy it. But for others: not a fuckin' word! One more thing: I'm glad the EU security protocols are live. We wrote the key bits of the new regs in this plastic doc. Dismissed!

Background

The in-universe Marine shares a name with Matt Morton, voice performer on Doom 3 and related releases — a respectful fan nod, not an official identity link.

Trivia

  • The PDA opens with Mr Yeez — likely a (possibly mocking) nickname the circle uses for J. Yezback. Morton also names Yezback later as someone who might “even enjoy” the proposed method.
  • The circle meets in high-voltage / rail-tunnel EM blind spots so eavesdropping is difficult; implants and pacemakers are a hard exclusion.
  • His name refers to Matt Morton, a voice performer credited on Doom 3, Doom 3: BFG Edition, and Doom 3 VR. S. Holmes (Steve Holmes) has also publicly acknowledged outstanding work by Matt Morton in game development. Any resemblance is coincidental and used as a respectful fan nod.
