Amar is a minor character — a crew technician with the Indian pirate crew at Thakur Cross.

Despite a short acquaintance he befriended S. Holmes, the northern Marine whose farewell DATAPAD is addressed to Amar. Amar's own log covers failing reclaim armor, station drinks versus suit “purified” fluid, a non-evaporating leak after pipe practice, and regret that “Mr Holmes” — Steve, “Sherlock” to Amar — has already left.

New hobby: learning to drum!Equator heat never lets up - the body needs constant fluid top-ups. UAC work suits catch what you lose: breath vapor, sweat, piss. Even the best suits need constant repair from daily wear. Skip that and efficiency tanks - they recycle way less body fluid. UAC suit didn't last a month, but pirates are always trading. This armor quit after a year - now I burn more on those damn drinks. Damn, I'm thirsty. Ew, gross! They taste the same, only color & smell change. Still beats the "purified" crap this suit puts out. I found a leak in the passage yesterday, after our practice. It ran down columns & hot pipes, didn't evaporate! I filled the suit. Shame Mr Holmes left - soldier from the north I told you about. His name's Steve but he's Sherlock to me. Damn gig on those pipes!
